Great Lakes Lubricants began as a small engine oil marketer in Grand Rapids Michigan in 1964. Through the years, the size of the company and the scope of products increased. In 1978, the company expanded by establishing a branch office in Frederic (between Grayling and Gaylord). In 2005, Kamp Oil acquired Beebe Oil in Utica (near Detroit) and the lubricants portion of Dwar Oil in 2006.
